Pricing & Payment
My base rates for each session are as follows:
60min $135 | 75min $150 | 90min $180 | 120min $240
As seen in the ‘Payer Forward’ tier below, these are the rates that I have determined are necessary for me to cover my own expenses and pay myself a living wage. When considering my sliding scaled payment structure, I ask that you please consider the time and energy it takes to provide therapeutic work at accessible rates for those who may not be able to afford it otherwise
I have already considered tip amount in my pricing, so while additional tipping is appreciated, it is not necessary. I know that in a culture where the onus is heavily placed on the consumer to make sure those providing their services are making a living wage through tipping, people are often troubled by the idea of not leaving a little extra- this is actually not one of those situations, so while your monetary tips are appreciated, I will also gladly take referrals and/or Yelp reviews in lieu of extra money.
I also offer pricing based on a sliding scale model for you to consider:
Why a sliding scale?
We all deserve access to healthcare & healing services. A sliding scale is a way of addressing economic inequality and imbalance in our society and making my services economically accessible to more people. This practice is an act of faith and is based on trust. For a sliding scale to work, those who have access to financial resources need to pay more, so that those who have fewer financial resources are more able to access services. When you pay more, know that you are helping others to access healing. When you pay in the middle, know you are helping me to cover costs. And when you pay less, know that you are letting your community hold and support you. All of these are wonderful and acceptable ways of contributing. My hope is that you feel comfortable choosing what feels right for you. Below are my suggested rates and some things to consider in placing yourself along the scale.
Redistributor: $165 for 60 min session, $180 for 75 min session, $215 for 90 min session, $285 for 120 min session; Consider paying at this level if one or more of the following apply: If paying this fee would have little to no impact on your spending habits, you are comfortably able to meet your basic needs, own a newer car and/or a home or rent a higher end property, have access to financial savings, have reliable work or do not need to work to meet your needs, have family financial support, have investments, can afford to travel every year, have expendable income
Payer Forward: $135 for 60 min session, $150 for 75 min session, $180 for 90 min session, $240 for 120 min session- Please Note: This is the true cost of my services, and the amount I require to cover my expenses and pay myself a living wage. Consider paying at this level if one or more of the following apply: you sometimes stress about meeting basic needs but still regularly achieve them, are able to buy some new items and thrift others, can travel every couple/few years without burden, have a graduate degree and/or high earning potential (even if you are not exercising it today), have savings, have some debt but it does not prevent access to basic needs/wants
Sustainer: $90-120 for 60 min session, $105-140 for 75 min session, $130-$165; Consider paying at this level if one or more of the following apply: You have very limited expendable income, are unemployed or have unstable employment but are still able to meet basic needs, have little or no access to savings or other financial support, have higher debt that requires sacrifices on needs/wants
Pay What You Can: $40-90 for 60 min session; Priority is given to folks who identify as Black, Indigenous, and/or People of Color, queer and trans folks, people raised working class or poor, and people with disabilities. Please consider this option only if you struggle to meet your basic needs and paying would be a significant hardship.
Thank you to the generosity of Racheli Wercberger for creating and sharing this sliding scale model. The content is inspired by the work of many in the greater community including but not limited to Eli Conley, kiran nigam, Alexis J. Cunningfolk (of Worts & Cunning Apothecary), and Hadassah Damien (of Ride Free Fearless Money), all of whom inspire by providing examples of more equitable and humane ways of charging for services than is common under capitalism.
